What is Community Supported Agriculture?

CSA is a system in which consumers receive food directly from the farmers who produce it. But unlike a farmer's market system, supporters of community agriculture actually share in a part of the farmer's livelihood; They pay in advance for a portion of the farmer's total crop. By doing this, farmers are provided a stable income that doesn't depend on sunny weather on farmers' market days.

Why support CSA farmers when one could just as easily go to the supermarket to pick up produce, you ask? Well, CSA members receive their produce at prices that are slightly cheaper than the farmers market. Because their food is produced nearby, CSA members' food also may be more nutritious as it does not have to be picked "green" for long-distance shipping.

These days, "fresh" seems to mean fresh off the truck from California, and "local" is anything east of the Rockies and west of the Atlantic.
For us, fresh means we hand pick your produce within 24 hours of pick-up!

Naturally-grown produce is becoming increasingly popular because consumers know there are no chemicals involved in growing the produce. It's healthier for you and your family, has a higher nutritional value, and, as an added benefit, it tastes better too. No wonder this concept is catching on all across the nation!
